The CENTRE FOR MANAGEMENT STUDIES (CMS) and ORISSA ENGINEERING COLLEGE (OEC), the twin Professional and Technical Institutes respectively are promoted by the Nabajyoti Charitable Trust (NCT) formed by Late Sri. Kamini Kanta Patnaik the great visionary of Odisha. The Trust started its journey of providing quality technical education by setting up Odisha’s first Engineering College in the private sector in the year 1986.Over the last 25years ORISSA ENGINEERING COLLEGE (OEC) has grown into a premier technical institute of Odisha dedicated to quality Education in Engineering. Keeping in line with the broader vision, the trust diversified into Management Education and established CENTRE FOR MANAGEMENT STUDIES (CMS) in 2001. It has also drawn up ambitious plans to venture into other areas of Technical Education shortly. With All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approval, CMS aims to impart quality Professional Education through MBA curriculum of BIJU PATNAIK UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (BPUT). The Centre for Management Studies is spread over approx. 4 acres of land. The institute is housed in a 16000 sq. ft. area, equipped with all modern facilities for Education and Training.

 News & Events
• Orientation Programme on HIV/AIDS awareness was organized on 7th December, 2010 in the Institute with the association of Indian Red Cross Society and Orissa State AIDS Control Society. Debate Competition among the students on the topic “AIDS can happen to anyone………. But everyone can avoid it” was also organized. The Chief Guest, Mr. Hrushikesh Tripathy, Collector & District Magistrate, Khurda was the Chief Guest, Dr. Mangala Prasad Mohanty, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Guest of Honour. Dr. Tripati Mishra, Joint Director (IEC), Orissa State AIDS Control Society, spoke about AIDS/HIV. Mr. Soumya Prakash Patnaik, Member, GB, CMS was also present.

• 1st Semester students of CMS went on an industrial exposure visit to Paradeep Phosphates Ltd., Paradeep on 10th June, 2011.

• CMS students participated in Blood Donation Camp organized at Students’ Study Centre of Orissa Engineering College on 22nd October, 2011.

• A Seminar on “Self Management & Time Management” was organized at CMS Campus on 25th November, 2011. Dr. R.K. Bal, Professor, Department of Commerce, Utkal University, was the Guest Speaker, who among other things advised students to “Dream Big”.

• A Seminar on “Leadership” was organized at CMS Campus on 8th December, 2011. Dr. Swarup Chandra Sahoo, Retd. Professor, Utkal University, Department of Business Administration was the Speaker, who focused on Strategic Leadership.

• Students of CMS, who are the members of the College Red Ribbon Club along with Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Mohanty, Associate Professor-cum-Programme Officer of Red Ribbon Club participated in an Awareness Rally as a part of celebration of World AIDS Day, 2011 organised by Orissa State AIDS Control Society (OSACS) on 1st December, 2011.
